The two-day Hands-on Workshop on Deep Learning for Computer Vision, held on April 10–11, 2025, at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, commenced with an inaugural address by Prof. (Dr.) C.T. Aravindakumar, Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The sessions began with an introduction to CNNs and image classification by Jayakumar T V and Aswathy P, followed by a session on transfer learning and fine-tuning by Krishnendu Lalaji and Jayakumar T V. The afternoon sessions featured advanced architectures led by Dr. Deepak Mishra and Ramzan Basheer, and generative models (GANs/VAEs) presented by Dr. Deepak Mishra and Krishnendu Lalaji.
On the second day, participants delved into object detection, segmentation, and tracking with Aswathy P and Krishnendu Lalaji, concluding with an insightful session on Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) for vision by Ramzan Basheer and Aswathy P. The workshop was organized by the School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics and the School of Computer Sciences, offering attendees an in-depth, practical understanding of cutting-edge deep learning techniques in computer vision.
